Trillions of dollars move into new infrastructure, jobs follow, and communities become more resilient to climate shocks. That's the outcome everyone in this space is working towards. But getting there depends on building markets that investors can put capital into.
At the World Climate Investment Summit 2026 in London, Rebecca Mikula-Wright, CEO of IGCC - Investor Group on Climate Change (Australia and New Zealand) and AIGCC (Asia Investor Group on Climate Change), shares her perspective on building investable markets, why policy collaboration is the key lever for institutional investors, and how to move capital into the transition at scale.
Watch the full interview below:
Here are the key takeaways from the conversation with Rebecca Mikula-Wright.
1. Build the systems that create investable markets
For Rebecca, the single most important action needed today is building the systems that create the markets capable of attracting greater investment into the transition.
Whether the focus is the climate crisis, the nature crisis, or the wider sustainability agenda, investors are ultimately looking for the same thing: investable markets. Creating those markets is the foundation everything else depends on.
2. Policy is the challenge that demands cross-sector collaboration
Asked which challenge most requires collaboration across sectors, Rebecca points to policy without hesitation. She sees a unique opportunity to mobilise institutional investors to help shape the very markets they need to invest in, and encourages investors to engage in policy work collaboratively rather than alone.
Working together not only makes the process easier for everyone, it also sends a louder, stronger signal to policymakers about the markets and enabling environments needed to unlock trillions of dollars for the transition.
3. Engage with the capital markets
Rebecca's call to action for leaders is direct: engage with the capital markets and with institutional investors. Investors want to put their capital to work and invest in the transition. This is an outcome that is better for portfolios, better for markets, and ultimately better for jobs, communities, and a more resilient future.
The transition to a sustainable future will not be achieved in isolation. It will require building investable markets, aligning institutional investors around collaborative policy engagement, and welcoming the capital that is ready and waiting to be put to work.
