Creating Impact Through Dialogue, Partnerships and Investments

Who We Are

The World Climate Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation, where the proceeds from its activities can only be handed out to societal purposes as stipulated in its charter. This motivates the Foundation to act as an independent mediator and trustworthy platform across many legitimate interests. The Foundation is governed by the Danish Foundation Act and is regularly audited for its not-for-profit operations on an accounted cost basis.

Since 2010, the World Climate Foundation has worked with and engaged a network of global leaders and multi-sector stakeholders to combine the expertise and action needed, focusing on creating ambition loops through public-private partnerships in the areas of climate, biodiversity and health resilience.

As global leaders look to transition to a sustainable future, our impact platforms give them the inspiration, motivation, confidence and partnerships they need. We amplify their voice and provide them with the strategic insights, network and influence to create solutions that are bigger and more impactful than they otherwise could have imagined.

Our Mission

Our mission is to facilitate the economic transition to a net-zero, nature-positive and healthy planet through cross-sector dialogue, innovative partnerships and investments in sustainable solutions.

The aim of the World Climate Foundation is to have a systematic impact on the global transition to a net-zero and green economy. We develop and run environmental impact platforms in line with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the New Global Biodiversity Framework, providing an international growth engine for new impact organisations that can accelerate the transition of businesses and markets.

We recognise that to confront the climate, biodiversity and health crises we need faster action and delivery. Our vision is a decade from 2020 to 2030 where climate and sustainability commitments are transformed via actions into impact that align with the required outcomes of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Purpose

There is a narrowing window of opportunity to halve emissions to ensure that global temperatures stay within the limits of the Paris Agreements on Climate Change for net-zero by 2050. While the biodiversity and biosecurity arenas are still building institutions for target setting and public-private collaboration, the threats of these crises are nonetheless just as imminent and important.

The emergence of new technologies, new consumer habits and disruptive business models are market drivers for change in an otherwise slow but needed political process. Major stakeholders need to work in partnership over the next decade to transform to cleaner industries and solutions, to combat the climate, biodiversity and health crises. For this reason, the main purpose of the World Climate Foundation is to create and promote opportunities for stakeholder engagement and multi-level governance and collaboration.

Our Community

A key asset of the World Climate Foundation is a curated and growing network of 75,000 relevant, high-level international decision-makers, that are actively motivated to participate in the rapid transition to a net-zero economy. Of those, the World Climate Foundation holds a number of long-term partnerships with globally leading governments, businesses, investors and international organisations.
