Grupo Boticário: 35 Years of Sustainability and Biodiversity in Action

Updated: 15 hours ago

Grupo Boticário has sustainability in its DNA: a commitment evident both in its business operations and in the Grupo Boticário Foundation, which for over 35 years has worked to protect biodiversity, promote climate adaptation and support communities across Brazil.

Luiz Meyer, Head of Sustainability at Grupo Boticário, shared how the foundation manages two reserves totaling more than 11,000 hectares and has backed over 1,800 projects, including the Viva Água initiative, which focuses on river basin conservation and has invested over R$27 million.

With more than 4,000 stores, 4,000 suppliers, and thousands of employees, Grupo Boticário faces complex operational and logistical challenges, yet its integrated approach shows that ambitious sustainability goals are achievable at scale.

Sustainability is in our DNA — it’s not about being at COP, it’s about a journey of more than 35 years, now consolidated with clear targets toward 2035 and 2050.”

André Ferretti, Senior Manager of Biodiversity Economics, Grupo Boticário Foundation, shared practical initiatives like the Plataforma Natureza, which maps climate risks and identifies effective nature-based solutions for municipalities, companies and communities. The platform also links actions to the Sustainable Development Goals and showcases real-world examples to inspire implementation.

Recorded at the World Climate Summit & the Investment COP 2025, this conversation highlights how a company can generate long-term environmental and social impact, foster biodiversity and build resilient, sustainable business practices, all while growing and serving communities across Brazil and beyond.
