During the interview with World Climate Foundation, Dr. Tsai Ming-Jer from the Experimental Forest at National Taiwan University (NTUEF) explained how a partnership with BioPlus and the World Climate Foundation is helping bridge biodiversity science with political and financial solutions. The shared goal is to build natural finance systems that are both scientifically credible and socially inclusive.
Dr. Tsai highlights BioPlus’ role in designing trustworthy biodiversity credit systems and fostering collaboration across the region. Through the Asian Biodiversity Credit Alliance (ABCA), partners are developing common standards for biodiversity credits grounded in transparent data and local participation. This ensures that nature finance benefits ecosystems and communities, rather than becoming a purely market-driven instrument.
“Integrity depends on three things: science, governance and transparency. We need solid data.”
When biodiversity credits are measurable, monitored and transparent, both investors and local communities can be confident that real ecological outcomes are being achieved.
Looking ahead, Dr. Tsai stresses that strengthening these scientific and governance frameworks will be essential for scaling nature finance across Asia.
The interview was recorded at the World Climate Summit & The Investment COP 2025 in Belém.
